Cosmetic and consumer product compliance

Cosmetics and consumer products are regulated differently from medicines, but the safety science is just as important. We prepare the toxicological safety assessments, product information files and compliance reviews that brands, manufacturers and importers need to place products on the market responsibly.

FAQs

Cosmetic & Consumer Compliance: frequently asked questions

Who signs a cosmetic product safety report?

Under the EU Cosmetics Regulation, Part B of the CPSR must be carried out by a qualified safety assessor holding a qualification in pharmacy, toxicology, medicine or a similar discipline. We confirm the signing assessor for each engagement.

Do you test cosmetics?

No. Testing such as stability, preservative efficacy, microbiological or dermatological studies is performed by laboratories. We define what is needed and assess the results.

Can you act as our Responsible Person?

The EU and UK Responsible Person must be established in those jurisdictions. We prepare the documentation that the Responsible Person needs; we do not act as Responsible Person.

Do you handle household products?

Yes, for safety documentation such as safety data sheets and ingredient safety assessments. Product-specific regulations (for example for biocides) may also apply.

Not sure which service fits?

Describe your product and the question you need answered. We will recommend the right scope — or tell you if it is outside ours.
